The Best Blueberry Cream Cheese Scones
Mouthwatering Scones…
I had the best blueberry cream cheese scones at Waioli Kitchen & Bake Shop in Mānoa on the Salvation Army Family Treatment Services campus. Their baked goods are comforting and warm. The scones are very filling.

Waioli’s History on O’ahu
Waioli Kitchen & Bake Shop’s location is beautifully refreshing and has a historic Hawaiian feel. The site and the restaurant, which makes 101 years old in 2023, have a lot of history.
Waioli Kitchen & Bake Shop was originally the Waioli Tea Room. It was a vocational training center for the orphans who resided at the Salvation Army Girls Home (Waioli Kitchen & Bake Shop, 2022).
Waioli Kitchen & Bake Shop aims to restore its original mission of meeting the needs of the people in the community. The new Waioli provides vocational training for graduates who have battled substance abuse disorders and individuals who were once incarcerated (Waioli Kitchen & Bake Shop, 2022).
Blueberries and Brain Health
There are so many health benefits to consuming blueberries. One is brain health. Blueberry.org (2023) confirms that eating blueberries has lowered the risk of developing cognitive impairment and dementia.
Blueberries also offer antioxidants, which contribute to promoting brain health benefits (Kimball, 2022).
And if you’re wondering if fresh or frozen blueberries are preferred over the other, both benefit our health. Ensure there are no added sugars before purchasing prepared blueberries (i.e., canned, frozen, juiced, etc.).
Happy cooking,
FS x
