Birthday flashback!

Happy #FlashbackFriday!

Last year, my bf took me to Aunty’s Ramen for my bday luncheon. I’ve always wanted to try that place, as the owner used to own Sweet Home Cafe, a Taiwanese hotpot joint. Aunty’s Ramen is pretty similar to Sweet Home, but you’re not cooking your own ingredients in your soup. It’s already made and served to ya. However, you still get to pick a variety of ingredients to your soup, then pick your noodles and soup base. Meats is optional.

Unfortunately, Aunty’s Ramen does not offer complementary shave ice like Sweet Home did. But we love shave ice so much, that we ordered it for our dessert. They have a bar, with a variety of toppings to choose from. Taiwanese shave ice rocks!

Oh yea!! My mouth is watering!! So good!

Happy weekend y’all!

Good ol’ shave ice!

I love shave ice- it’s so refreshing! Can’t beat the top three flavors that make “the rainbow-” strawberry, banana, and vanilla. It makes such beautiful colors. What makes shave ice even more exciting to eat is the cool toppings you can add on top, such as tapioca balls, mochi balls, fruit, fruit jellies, custard, pudding, ice cream, azuki beans, condensed milk, taro, and get this, strawberry jam! Yes, you read me right- jam! Tried that with our shave ice and it was AWESOME! It paired so well. I thought it would be weird, but it wasn’t. It was really good! Genius!

Ordered this shave ice from Coffee or Tea? at Pearl Kai Shopping Center. They have two locations. The first location is based at McCully Shopping Center. This joint has amazingly delicious milk teas, and all different kinds of varieties to choose from!

Here is an article of the best shave ice joints on O’ahu: http://www.best-of-oahu.com/hawaiian-shave-ice.html. It’s all about the fine, smooth ice, that melts in your mouth, and the variety of flavors and toppings, too!

Happy new week!
