…And the bday celebration continues!

Tonight, my girlfriends took me out for my very belated bday! We tried Scratch Kitchen & Meatery at South Shore Market at Ward Village. I heard of Scratch Kitchen & Bakeshop in Chinatown, but never tried it. I learned tonight that that location closed.

Scratch Kitchen & Meatery is the place to be at South Shore! When we were seated, it wasn’t too crowded, but soon after, in the blink of an eye, the entire place was packed. The menu was fancy and there was no distinction of what was considered “pupus,” or appetizers and what was an entreรฉ. The staff encouraged sharing/family style.

I ordered the Southern Hot Chicken: TWO spicy chicken with buffalo-type spicy sauce, that sat on a French toast, topped with sprouts and arugula. Wasn’t bad! It was pretty spicy, and tangy, too!

After dinner, we were excited to have some ice cream from Lucy’s Lab Creamery next door. I love their ice cream flavors. They got some interesting ones, like Fruit Loop vodka. Really?! I got the lychee vegan ice cream, which was made with coconut milk. It was interesting. Had the taste of both lychee with coconut. It was a little too rich for my tummy, if ya know what I mean. Haha!

Hot pot for a perfect chilly night

It’s been quite chilly all week in Hawai’i Nei and I like it! Tonight, I made hot pot, using the split pot my aunties gave for Christmas.

I bought this at the store during the holidays, as it was on sale. I LOVE Tom Yum and was super excited when I saw this on the shelves. I HAD to try it!

On the left is an impromptu soup base I made since I only had one pack of the tom yum soup. It’s made of: ponzu sauce, bonito flakes, pickled garlic, garlic/Hawaiian salt, and lemon juice. On the right is the tom yum soup. I added garlic/Hawaiian salt and lemon juice. I added the following ingredients to the hot pot: shrimp, soft tofu, chuck beef, and pho noodles.

It was so good! I want to buy more now that I know it’s very tasty, and not to mention, spicy and soup. My kind of soup!

Southeast Asian soups are ono to the MAX!

Oh, how I love Southeast Asian food, especially [spicy] soup. Tonight at Panya, I tried their Thai basil spicy noodle soup with chicken. It was so delicious! I absolutely enjoyed it; I wiped the bowl clean! I really enjoy the different noodle soups at Panya. I’ve tried their chicken noodle soup- not your typical chicken noodle soup you eat from the can. I’ve also tried their laksa, a Chinese and Malay soup, made with coconut milk.

Panya doesn’t only have delicious soups. They have a variety of different entrรฉes on the menu, such as sandwiches, ramen, pad thai, spaghetti, oxtail stew, etc. They are known for their pastries and other desserts. Their Japanese cheesecake is bomb! It’s so light and fluffy. Very different from a NY cheesecake, as it’s not rich and creamy.
