Going smoothie crazy with my newest food gadget!

It’s #WellnessWednesday, and I am so excited to share this post with y’all!!

Last Christmas, my boyfriend got me this multi-purpose Nutri Ninja®/Nutri Bowl™ DUO™ with Auto-iQ Boost™ (ooh, fancy, huh?). I finally started using it- three-and-a-half months later, haha!

My new food gadget consists of:

One base and two interchangeable vessels, the 1200-watt DUO™ with Auto-iQ Boost™ easily switches between Nutrient & Vitamin Extraction** and Nutrient Fusion*** in single serve or 4-cup Nutri Bowl. (http://www.ninjakitchen.com/store/)

Wow! It’s an all-in-one blender and food processor, if you ask me! I can just use this one base to make my drinks and food!

For the past two weeks, I’ve gone crazy making all different kinds of smoothies. The featured image above is a carrot-strawberry smoothie, with the “Essential” flavor Vitamin Water® drink.

Here’s a list of the different (protein) smoothies I’ve made with my new gadget. It’s truly amazing!! It’s so easy to use and I can make multiple batches to last an entire week!

The ingredients in these smoothies are adjusted by your taste buds =D

Apple-banana smoothie:

  • Apples
  • Bananas (frozen ok)
  • “Essential” flavor Vitamin Water® drink
  • Ice (optional. I use ice to make my drinks colder and slushy)
  • Unflavored protein powder (optional)

Strawberry-banana-blueberry smoothie:

  • Strawberries (frozen ok)
  • Bananas (frozen ok)
  • Blueberries (frozen ok)
  • Soy milk and/or regular milk (you can use fruit juice if you prefer)
  • Ice (optional)
  • Unflavored protein powder (optional)

Peanut butter-banana-grape smoothie:

  • Bananas (frozen ok)
  • Grapes (frozen ok)
  • Soy milk and/or regular milk (I use both- I use lactaid milk since I am lactose-intolerant)
  • Peanut butter
  • Ice (optional)
  • Unflavored protein powder (optional)

Carrot-strawberry smoothie (yes, carrots):

  • Fresh carrots (fresh carrots frozen ok)
  • Strawberries (frozen ok)
  • Any kind of orange juice (I used the “Essential” Vitamin Water®)
  • Ice (optional)
  • Fiber powder (optional)
  • Unflavored protein powder (optional)

Carrot-strawberry-banana-blueberry smoothie:

  • Fresh carrots (fresh carrots frozen ok)
  • Strawberries (frozen ok)
  • Soy milk and/or regular milk (or fruit juice if you prefer)
  • Ice (optional)
  • Fiber powder (optional)
  • Unflavored protein powder (optional)

Carrot-apple-banana-blueberry smoothie:

  • Fresh carrots (fresh carrots frozen ok)
  • Apples
  • Bananas (frozen ok)
  • Blueberries (frozen ok)
  • Soy milk and/or regular milk (or fruit juice if you prefer)
  • Ice (optional)
  • Fiber powder (optional)
  • Unflavored protein powder (optional)

The blender did a fine job blending the carrots well into the smoothie, with the other ingredients because of the auto-iQ boost™ feature. If you like your smoothies with more texture and “grittiness,” you can turn the feature off.

I can’t wait to incorporate different veggies and fruits together to create more yummy smoothies. It’s not just about the fruits these days! Veggies are included, too!

Peanut butter smoothies for International Women’s Day!

Happy International Women’s Day! Today’s review is on peanut butter smoothies. Yum! It’s my new love when it comes to smoothies. I’ve been craving it so much lately.

Last week, I went to Extract Juice Bar in Downtown and ordered one of my favorite drinks from there: Peanut Butter Jelly Time. The smoothie consisted of: peanut butter, bananas, strawberries, and grapes. Yummy! I drank it so quickly. It was so good! Cravings satisfied! Ah!

The next day that same week, I was craving peanut butter smoothies again and decided to make my own. Haha! I had some frozen bananas in the freezer and decided to make use of them.

Bam! Bello!

My specialty consisted of: ice, soy milk and Lactaid milk, frozen bananas, peanut butter, and grapes.

The grapes makes it so much better! Next time I have strawberries, I will definitely add those in. And maybe some blueberries, too. Haha! It’ll be awesome!

Weekend adventure!

The other weekend, my boyfriend and I had island adventure weekend. First stop, we drove around the North Shore of Oahu. I love driving out there! It’s so beautiful! Here’s some things to take advantage of when visiting the North Shore: click me & have fun!!

We stopped at Foodland in Laie to try these drinks. I love blood orange sodas. The lemon, lime, and bitters had a very interesting taste. I personally didn’t care for it. I think it was the bitters.

Next stop, Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck- the best shrimp in Kahuku if you ask me. This is their most popular plate- Shrimp Scampi. Yummy- and my favorite!

This is the Lemon Butter Shrimp- my second favorite!

There are so many other food trucks where Giovanni’s is located in Kahuku, including a corn stand and fresh fruit stand that’s located behind Giovanni’s. This the Island Style corn at Uncle Woody’s BBQ Corn. The seasonings included: Hawaiian sea salt, sea salt, pepper, and garlic salt. Yummy!

Later that afternoon, after our North Shore adventure, we headed to Aiea and tried a new smoothie joint- Smooth Tea. We ordered a strawberry/papaya and orange smoothie. We enjoyed the drinks very much. We would definitely return! Also, aren’t these cups cute?! The artist is very talented! Makes the smoothies fun to drink!

For dinner, I finally tried Quiznos for the first time. I was super excited! I ordered the deli sandwich/salad combo: chicken pesto Caesar and apple harvest chicken. Both were delicious!

Awesome toppings and sauce station!!!!! I went crazy on the pickles and red wine vinaigrette.

It was a blast cruising around the island! Can’t wait til the next adventure!

Happy Hump Day!

I <3 smoothies!

Smoothies are amazing! I always have a craving for them. They’re my go-to drink and never disapoint! I had a bunch of frozen bananas in my freezer, so I decided to make a smoothie. I added in the “XXX” açai-blueberry-pomegranate Vitamin Water to give it additional flavors, besides the banana.

Ta-da!!! My masterpiece was very, very simple, and was very tasty! I only added about 1/2 cup of the Vitamin Water. It didn’t take that much to make it super flavorful. Yummy! Refreshing for a hot summer’s day!IMG_6171

Over the weekend, I made more banana smoothies, but instead of using the “XXX,” I used the “Essential”orange-orange Vitamin Water instead. About one cup. That tasted good, too!

Vitamin Water is awesome!!! http://vitaminwater.com/

“XXX” and “Essential” are my top faves!
