Going sausage crazy for breakfast!

Happy New Year!

Ok, I never really cared for sausages for most of my life, but these that I’ve tried were AWESOME!!!! Delicious!!! My mouth is watering and I want more!

Breakfast at Tante’s in Kahului, Maui, at the Maui Seaside Hotel. Homemade Longanisa (Filipino sausage). This sausage was DA BOMB! So good! And that fried rice was to-die-for!

Mid-West homemade breakfast sausage patties, made by my gf’s brother-in-law. Yummy! Tasted so good with the homemade French Toast. Like my bite marks? Haha!

We had more sausages patties the next day! Mmm! I think they were different sausages from the previous day.

Sausages is my new craving! Isn’t it interesting how your taste buds can change overtime? Something you didn’t really care for, you’re craving, and visa versa?

I’m on a new adventure to search for some good sausages! I think I may even attempt to make some patties at home, haha! Doesn’t look too difficult.

Till next time!

…And the bday celebration continues!

Tonight, my girlfriends took me out for my very belated bday! We tried Scratch Kitchen & Meatery at South Shore Market at Ward Village. I heard of Scratch Kitchen & Bakeshop in Chinatown, but never tried it. I learned tonight that that location closed.

Scratch Kitchen & Meatery is the place to be at South Shore! When we were seated, it wasn’t too crowded, but soon after, in the blink of an eye, the entire place was packed. The menu was fancy and there was no distinction of what was considered “pupus,” or appetizers and what was an entreé. The staff encouraged sharing/family style.

I ordered the Southern Hot Chicken: TWO spicy chicken with buffalo-type spicy sauce, that sat on a French toast, topped with sprouts and arugula. Wasn’t bad! It was pretty spicy, and tangy, too!

After dinner, we were excited to have some ice cream from Lucy’s Lab Creamery next door. I love their ice cream flavors. They got some interesting ones, like Fruit Loop vodka. Really?! I got the lychee vegan ice cream, which was made with coconut milk. It was interesting. Had the taste of both lychee with coconut. It was a little too rich for my tummy, if ya know what I mean. Haha!

Brunch places are poppin’ up everywhere!

Happy Sunday! Man! Brunch places are popping up everywhere in Hawaii. It’s the new “in” thing! Brunch food is awesome!

I tried Moena Café with my girlfriend at the new Ka Makana Ali’i Mall in Kapolei. It was really good. I loved the atmosphere. Moena Café is next to the new Hampton Inn & Suites. I didn’t know that there’s a location in Hawaii Kai as well, at Koko Marina Shopping Center.

This is the fresh corned beef with eggs (over-easy). It was yummy!

We shared the sweet French toast. It was to-die-for! I love French toast!

Have a great new week!

Happy Cinco de Mayo weekend!

Happy belated Cinco de Mayo! On Thursday night, I made a Mexican breakfast dinner. It was a spur-of-the-moment meal idea, and it was delicious and quite awesome!!!

This is an over-easy egg sandwich, topped with Mexican cheese, on French toast. It was very good! The French toast wasn’t too sweet and paired very well with the egg. The yolk oozed out and we used the toast to soak it up.

I made the French toast a little differently. Here are the ingredients I’ve used:

  • milk
  • eggs
  • brown sugar
  • maple syrup

It turned out really yummy. I replaced the vanilla extract and cinnamon.

Mexican steak!!! I topped the steak with Mexican cheese, pico de gallo, salsa, and sour cream. Yummy!!

Have fun celebrating and be safe!!
