International Women’s Day
Hey, Ladies! Today is OUR day!
International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global day recognizing and celebrating women’s social, economic, cultural, and diplomatic achievements. This day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender equivalence.
IWD 2023 Theme
This year’s IWD theme is #EmbraceEquity. The campaign engages in crucial conversations on why equal opportunities aren’t satisfactory and how equality doesn’t mean everyone is treated equally in some situations. In addition, they understand the journey to accomplish equality for females.
Collective activism is what initiates change. Embracing equity can be achieved by associating grassroots enterprises with a wide-scale drive. Moreover, authentically believing, appreciating, and pursuing transformation is essential and optimistic.
Equality vs. Equity
Are these terms the same? Think again.
Let’s differentiate the terms:
Equality: the state of being equal, especially in status, rights, and opportunities.
Equity: the quality of being fair and impartial.
In other words, “Equality is giving everyone a shoe. Equity is giving everyone a shoe that fits” (International Women’s Day, 2023).
IWD Every.Day!
Ladies, let’s continue making a difference and changing the world. One day at a time. Let’s make every day IWD! Advocate. Motivate. Create change. Be the change. Inspire.
